Catherine GERMIER-HAMEL, Founder & CEO of Millennium Destinations, and Secretary of the Board of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Korea, attended the 11th Korea-Spain Forum, or XI Tribuna España-Corea, in Seoul, South Korea, on June 15, 2017.
The event was co-hosted by the Korea Foundation, Casa Asia, and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, under the theme "Public Diplomacy for a Better Mutual Understanding". Following the opening ceremony, with a keynote speech by Mr. Ildefonso Castro, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Spain, the first session on "Public Diplomacy, Tourism and Country Image" included presentations by the President of the Provincial Council of Malaga, and the Director of the Tourism Office of Spain, Turespaña, in Tokyo. The 11th Korea-Spain Forum took place from June 14 to 16, 2017. This annual gathering offers a platform for dialogue and cooperation, essentially aimed at strengthening bilateral relations in the economic, academic and cultural spheres, as well as exploring opportunities for collaboration and foster relations between the respective civil societies of both countries. June 15 2017 coincided with the World Tapas Day. Spain is the top European destination for Korean tourists, with 341.000 arrivals registered in 2016.

On June 2, 2017, Catherine GERMIER-HAMEL, Founder & CEO of Millennium Destinations, delivered a presentation at the 2017 Sustainable Growth Jeollabuk-do Eco-Tourism Forum, on "Domestic and International Marketing for Ecotourism Development".
The Forum took place in the city of Jeonju, and was hosted by Jeonbuk Provincial Government, with the support of Jeolla-buk-do Eco-Tourism Sustainable Center. Jeollabuk-do, or North Jeolla Province (aka Jeonbuk) is one of the nine South Korean Provinces, located in the southwest of the country. It is well-known for its agriculture, food, and abundant natural and cultural assets: a good start for an ecotourism development strategy. |
